You’re In Double Digits!

Dear Hunter,

Wow. You are six weeks into your 10th year.

I am not sure why time goes so fast for me. It’s a stark contrast to what you tell me about how time feels like it drags out for you. I remember being your age and feeling like I would never grow up. The years stretched out in front of me. And now, they stretch out behind me.

I love you so much, my sweet boy. Watching you become your own person delights me every day. We are in a sweet spot right now. You still want me close. You still ask me to snuggle with you. You have one foot in the little-boy world and a big toe in the big-boy world.

I have one foot in the I-need-to-protect-my-baby-boy world and a big toe in the starting-to-trust-you world. It’s hard. It is SO HARD. I look at you and struggle to comprehend that 10 years flew by in the blink of my eye.

You inspire me to be better, Hunter. A better mom. A better friend. A better person. Thank you, son.

Here’s to your next 10 years (and many more), honey.
I love you.

Love,
Mom
